Thermography Training FAQ's

• What procedures are neccessary to complete ASNT Certification?
  • ASNT – TC – 1A recommends that the required classroom instruction for a Level 1 thermographer is 32 hours. In keeping with these requirements, the candidate must attend the Level 1 Infrared Thermographer Training course as administered by Infrared Training Institute and pass the written examination with a grade of 70% or better.
  • The spirit of the ASNT certification recommendations is that the certified thermographer should be a thermographer in practice. To this end those seeking certification must provide written proof that he or she has been active in the infrared thermography field for a period of at least 12 months. This written declaration must be signed by a responsible person. Along with this declaration the applicant must provide a log of thermographic activities that document 100 hours of work experience.
  • To be certified, the thermographer must be qualified and able to perform infrared inspections that maintain certain standards. The applicant for certification must therefore submit a sample report to be kept on file by Infrared Training Institute for the term of the three year certification. This sample report should include infrared thermograms, corresponding real life images, and all related information. The sample report should have at least 5 image report pages.
